ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE
According to the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, the United States generated 232 million tons of
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) in 2000. The good news is that we
recovered and recycled 30 percent of the materials in this waste stream.
The bad news is that we still
disposed of more than 162 million tons of MSW in landfills.
Computer printouts, letters, memos, copies, cans and boxes can all be
recycled. The average office worker throws out 180 pounds of paper a year.
4M
is proud to be among those organizations that care about the environment and our
community.
4M utilizes environmentally
preferred chemicals, materials, and equipment to reduce the environmental impact
on the community and our customers. Working with local professional recycling
contractors, 4M manages customers' needs in realizing cost savings
through recycling efforts.
Waste reduction is not only vital to the sustainability of our natural
resources, it also makes economic sense. By taking personal responsibility
for managing our waste, we can reduce pollution and share the environmental and
financial benefits that accompany a viable recycling industry.
